Purpose and scope
These Terms of Use, referred to below as the “Terms”, define the conditions under which Data Knight makes its website and services available to the User.
They apply to both free features and paid services. The essential features, price and duration of the selected offer are stated before any order and supplement these Terms.
Creating an Account or ordering an offer requires acceptance of the Terms through the mechanism provided in the relevant process. Without acceptance, the features that depend on it are not accessible.

Account and access to the Service
3.1. Technical access
Access to the Website requires compatible equipment, an up-to-date browser and an internet connection. Connection costs remain the User's responsibility. Data Knight may carry out maintenance that temporarily interrupts certain features.
3.2. Passwordless sign-in
The Account is accessed using a temporary code (OTP) sent to the email address provided. Data Knight neither creates nor stores a password for authentication. The User must protect access to their email inbox and must not share their sign-in code.
3.3. Accuracy of information
The User provides accurate, complete and up-to-date information. They must not create an Account under another person's identity or allow an unauthorised third party to use their personal area.
Digital footprint scan
The scan searches for and organises information that may relate to the User across accessible or authorised sources: search engines, websites, directories, data brokers, known data breaches and, depending on the offer, social platforms.
The report presents detected results, their estimated risk level and recommendations. It is a snapshot of the sources checked at the time of analysis: it cannot guarantee complete coverage of the web or the absence of namesakes, new publications or data unavailable to Data Knight.
The User is encouraged to check that a result concerns them before requesting any action. The exclusions and corrections available in the report allow namesakes and irrelevant results to be removed from consideration.
Removal service
5.1. Selection and authorisation
The User selects the relevant results and organisations, then authorises Data Knight to prepare and send the corresponding requests. The authorisation is limited to that scope and may be revoked for actions that have not yet been sent.
5.2. Sending and tracking
Data Knight uses legal grounds appropriate to the situation, including the right to erasure, the right to object or delisting. Requests and their replies are tracked in the personal area. Some procedures may require confirmation or direct action by the User on the recipient's website.
5.3. Limitations
Recipient organisations remain responsible for their replies. They may refuse a request on lawful grounds, ask for supporting evidence or retain certain data. Data Knight has an obligation to use reasonable efforts and does not guarantee acceptance of every request or the permanent disappearance of content that may be republished.
Prices, orders and payment
Prices and essential features of each offer are displayed before ordering. Unless otherwise stated, prices are in euros and include all taxes.
Online payment is processed by Stripe. Data Knight does not retain the full payment card number. The order becomes final after payment confirmation and, where applicable, verification of the payment session.
A payment receipt or invoice is made available by the payment provider or sent to the email address associated with the Account. If payment fails or is rejected, access to the paid offer may not be activated or may be suspended.
Subscription, renewal and cancellation
8.1. Renewal
Always-on Protection is a subscription that renews automatically at the monthly or annual interval selected when ordering. The amount and next payment date are presented before subscribing and in the available billing information.
8.2. Online cancellation
The User may stop renewal from the My Accountsection, in the subscription settings. Cancellation is free and takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. Access to subscription features remains available until that date.
Amounts relating to the current period are not refunded pro rata solely because of cancellation, without prejudice to the right of withdrawal and mandatory legal provisions.
8.3. Returning to a previous offer
When the subscription ends, features and quotas revert to those of the offer available to the User. Removal requests already sent continue to be tracked, but no new action reserved for Always-on Protection may be started without an active entitlement.
Right of withdrawal
You can exercise your right online through Withdraw from a purchase, also available in My Account, My Data. You can also send us an unambiguous statement at contact@data-knight.io. An acknowledgement records your statement and the date it was sent.
When acting as a consumer and entering into a distance contract, the User generally has fourteen days from the conclusion of the contract to exercise their right of withdrawal without having to give a reason.
When the User requests that the Service begin before the withdrawal period ends, including by confirming that their requests should be sent, they expressly request immediate performance of the service. Requests already sent to organisations can no longer be withdrawn by Data Knight.
If the User exercises their right of withdrawal before the Service has been fully performed, Data Knight stops actions not yet completed. An amount proportionate to the services already performed up to receipt of the withdrawal remains payable. Once the Service has been fully performed, the User loses the right of withdrawal if they had previously requested immediate performance and expressly acknowledged that consequence.
User obligations
The User undertakes in particular to:
- use the Service for themselves and for data relating to them;
- provide accurate information and check results before making any request;
- not impersonate a third party or misuse the Service for fraudulent purposes;
- not disrupt or attempt unauthorised access to the Service's systems;
- cooperate when supporting evidence or confirmation is legitimately required.
Data Knight's commitments
Data Knight provides the Service diligently and implements technical and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data processed. It informs the User of the main stages of their requests and incidents that significantly affect the Service.
Data Knight may change its sources and methods to improve the relevance of scans, security or compliance with rules imposed by third-party websites. Such changes do not guarantee complete or permanent coverage of all online sources.
Intellectual property and personal data
12.1. Content and software
The Website's text, graphics, interfaces, software, distinctive signs and databases are protected by the intellectual property rights of Data Knight or their owners. Any use beyond normal consultation of the Service requires prior authorisation, except where permitted by law.
12.2. User data
The User retains their rights over the content and archives they provide. They authorise Data Knight to process them only to the extent necessary to provide, secure and demonstrate the requested Service.
The purposes, legal bases, recipients, retention periods and applicable rights are detailed in the Privacy policy.
Account suspension and deletion
Data Knight may suspend access to all or part of the Service in the event of a security risk, fraudulent use, unpaid payment or serious breach of these Terms. Where circumstances allow, the User is informed of the reason and how to remedy the situation.
The User may delete their Account from My Account. Account deletion cancels associated active subscriptions and removes access without waiting for the end of a paid period. It does not constitute withdrawal and does not automatically entitle the User to a refund of amounts already paid.
Certain data may be retained after deletion where required by law, to handle a dispute or establish proof of transactions, for the periods stated in the Privacy Policy.
Liability
Data Knight is liable for direct damage resulting from a proven breach of its obligations, within the limits provided by law. No provision of these Terms limits any mandatory consumer right or guarantee.
Data Knight is not responsible for lawful decisions made by search engines, social networks, brokers, websites or authorities to which a request is addressed, or for inaccurate information provided by the User. The User remains responsible for validating targets and for actions they perform directly on third-party platforms.
Force majeure
Neither party may be held liable for a breach caused by an event beyond its reasonable control that meets the legal criteria for force majeure. The affected obligations are suspended for the duration of the event. Data Knight informs Users when an incident has a lasting effect on the Service.
Changes to the Terms
Data Knight may amend the Terms to reflect changes to the Service, regulations or its security measures. The date and version number appear at the top of the document.
If a material change affects an ongoing service, the User is informed through an appropriate medium before it takes effect. Where the change requires renewed acceptance, that acceptance is obtained explicitly. The User may cancel their subscription or delete their Account if they do not wish to continue using the Service.
Complaints, mediation and applicable law
17.1. Prior complaint
Any complaint may be sent to contact@data-knight.io or by post to Data Knight's registered office. The request must specify the Account or order concerned and describe the expected resolution so that a useful reply can be provided.
17.2. Consumer mediation
After an unresolved prior written complaint, the consumer may use a consumer mediator free of charge under the conditions provided by the French Consumer Code. Contact details for the mediator covering Data Knight must be included in this section once the company has effectively joined its scheme.
17.3. Applicable law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by French law. This choice does not deprive the consumer of more protective mandatory provisions in their country of residence. If no amicable agreement is reached, the competent courts are determined in accordance with applicable legal rules.
Contact
For any questions about these Terms or the Service:
Data Knight does not have a public telephone switchboard. Requests are received by email or post so that they can be tracked.
Social scans and Always-on Protection
For Facebook, Reddit and X/Twitter, the User may upload the archive obtained from the relevant platform. The archive and associated results are retained for the period stated in the Privacy Policy.
The YouTube scan may use the official OAuth connection. Data Knight does not receive the account password, and authorisation may be revoked through the available settings.
The subscription provides access to the scans, quotas and monitoring features displayed when subscribing. Their availability depends on maintaining an active subscription.
Social Pro is a one-off payment, outside any subscription. It provides access to the social media hub with no expiry date, limited to five scan cycles per purchase. It is not a subscription and does not include Always-on Protection features.
