From 11 August 2026, commercial telephone marketing in France is based on prior consent, or opt-in, rather than registration on the Bloctel opt-out list. Here are the essentials.
What changes
- A business generally must not call to sell you something without your clear consent, unless an exception applies, such as a qualifying call about an existing contract.
- The Bloctel framework has been replaced. The general rule is now no consent, no marketing call.
- Scams and caller ID spoofing do not disappear. Keeping evidence remains useful.
What you can do now
- Note the date, time and displayed number.
- Do not disclose verification codes, bank details or sensitive identity information to an unverified unsolicited caller.
- Report abusive commercial practices through SignalConso. For suspected fraud, use the appropriate police or fraud-reporting route too.
- Check whether your number is publicly available in directories or through brokers. That may explain some exposure, though it does not prove where a particular caller obtained it.
Data Knight is not a call blocker
We do not stop your phone ringing. We help you check a number using ARCEP information and available reports, prepare information for SignalConso, and reduce public exposure of your number. You can then run a free digital footprint scan, the core of the Data Knight service.
